2019 at Hong Kong Art Centre

May 35th premiered in May 2019 at the Hong Kong Arts Centre, marking the 30th anniversary of the June Fourth Incident. The production's initial five-show run sold out within an hour of tickets going on sale. Due to overwhelming demand, six additional performances were added in July, all of which played to full houses. The critically acclaimed production earned numerous awards and nominations, including:

  • Best Production (HK Drama Awards)

  • Best Script (HK Drama Awards)

  • Best Director (Tragedy/Drama, HK Drama Awards)

  • Best Lighting Design (HK Drama Awards)

  • Outstanding Production of the Year (HK Drama Awards)

  • Best Actor Nomination (Tragedy/Drama, HK Drama Awards)

  • Best Actress Nomination (Tragedy/Drama, HK Drama Awards)

Additionally, the production received the Special Commendation Award from the International Association of Theatre Critics (Hong Kong).
